activism

There are several activist groups and agencies that are working on remediation of Lake Erie, The Buffalo and Niagara Rivers, and The Great Lakes as a whole.  In Western New York, the primary agencies are Buffalo-Niagara Riverkeeper and Sierra Club, Niagara Group.  Specific issues that activists are currently dealing with are the effects of hydrofracture on The Great Lakes watershed and toxins in the Scajaquada Creek, which feeds directly into the Niagara River.
