Fighting the Proposed Tops Gas Station on the Historic Scajaquada Creek

A controversial project in Buffalo, NY that has put local environmentalists at odds with city planning board officials involves the proposed installation of gas pumps at a Tops Supermarket, which sits adjacent to the historic Scajaquada Creek on the West Side of Buffalo.

Site and jurisdiction planning concerns have been expressed by concerned groups as they relate to the environmental, human health, and social impacts of this project: the site is located adjacent to the historic Scajaquada Creek, within an area designated as a Coastal Area and Inland Water Zone, and, therefore, should require adherence to the Clean Water Act and a full Environmental Impact Study prior to any permits being granted to Tops from the City of Buffalo Planning Board.
